FreshDirect’s Order Fullfilment

FreshDirect’s Order Fullfilment is a giant retail operation. Think of one hundred grocery stores together. It’s an amazing 300.000 sq.ft in New York that serves as distribution center for the company. Amazing logistics with hundreds of variables like temperature, stock, van distribution, etc. when I go to NY I’ll try to visit them.

Ultralight Toshiba Notebook

My dear current notebook is 4 years old and I’m looking for a good replacement (sorry mate). I’m in love with new Portege R100. It’s slim, light and powerfull! I’ve had the oportunity to lay me hands on one and have also read some reviews. My only concern is if the 12.1″ is ok to work with. To cover that issue I also looked at the Tecra M1 which has a 14.1″ TFT screen. I’ll be choosing soon. Other light weight options include Dell’s 3.7-pound Latitude D400, Hewlett-Packard’s 3.5-pound HP Compaq Business Notebook nc4000 and IBM’s 3.6-pound ThinkPad X31 (another favorite!). Any opinions?

Simpler by Design

A BBC news article on Gadgets going back to basics remembers me of how important it to design simplicity for people. “Designing simple appliances that handle a few functions and so are simple to use, but network together to cover a range of activities will be key” says Professor Peter Thomas from University College London.

Big Images

I really like galleries with big images. It’s like getting an idea of some place without actually going there. These galleries are very good, specially the many no parking signs of brooklyn.
