Christmas Book Shopping

A few days ago we ordered a few books from Amazon.co.uk. Today they’ve arrived. It’s so nice to receive such a big box from Amazon in the mail.

Amazon UK Order

I bought some novelties and some old tech books which I should have bought a long time ago. Fortunately, I always had them available where I needed them. Now I thought it was time to add them to my personal library.

So I bought:
Perl Testing: A Developer’s Notebook. Recommended by Melo and Cog.
Perl Best Practices. Also well recommended.
High Performance MySQL. Despite being already outdated (MySQL 5 is out there) it should provide very good tips from MySQL performance.

Old references (that I keep using):
Embedding Perl in HTML with Mason. Contains the Bricolage chapter which helped build Bricolage profile along side the famous eWeek article.
Learning Perl Objects, References and Modules. Used and re-used several times. Now I have my own copy.
Linux Server Hacks. New version coming out in January 2006.

And two more (always helpful) Oreilly Pocket References:
Apache Pocket Reference
Perl Pocket Reference

Also in the box (and in my Amazon ‘recommeded items’ page…) knitting, crocheting and bitching books that she bought and result in such marvelous things as my lovely powerbook sleeve or her wonderful crochet flowers.
