Updated wine cellar

Boostrapping and developing Adegga barely left me time to update my cellar with the wines I’ve been buying.

Recently I bought a couple of bottles when I was in France and also had the opportunity to buy some not yet released Portuguese wines at a special price.

Here’s the result of the update. My cellar overview is looking much more eclectic: 5 countries and 8 vintages.

Adegga - Overview of Andre Cellar

From my cellar there are a couple of wines that I’m looking forward to try. Three french wines from the Loire valley: Clos du Papillon 2005, Domaine de la Roche Lambert Anjou Elevé en Futs de Chêne 2005 and the Château de Roquemont Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2002. From Italy the Bianco di Custoza Superiore Cà del Magro 2006. And finally from Portugal the Quinta de Chocapalha 2005.

My ratings and notes will appear on my tasted wines.

Algarve Buzz

From time to time a site shows up on my radar and I immediately fall in love with it. That’s what happened with Algarve Buzz.

Algarve Buzz
Visit Algarve Buzz for more beautiful photos

Algarve Buzz is a journal about all good things Algarve. (Ms.) Eddie, the writer describes it like this.

We look forward to sharing the trove of treasures to be discovered from beautiful places, beaches, culture and history to incredible food, wine, scores of festivals, nightlife and of course the “Calor” (heat) of the Portuguese Latinos.

The site has a feel good feeling all over it. The design is nice and clean, the pictures are gorgeous and the content is well written and diversified.

This is the normal outcome when someone that lives in a place decides to talk about it so passionately. Definitely a journal to follow. Congratulations Eddie.

With all this feel good feeling, I’m fortunate to be be traveling to the Algarve this weekend. I’ll take the train tomorrow and enjoy the trip thinking about all good things waiting for me.

Building a Creative Culture

A few quotes from this very interesting interview on building a creative culture.

Finally, organizations have simply lost a sense of what it actually means to be creative. For some reason, thinking and speaking are accepted as a more important work than thinking and making.

Anyone who has ever been a part of a productive R&D team realizes that trying things and doing experiments is the fastest way to break into new territory.

By putting a priority on thinking and talking (through email, meetings, and PowerPoint) our work activities and environments have become sterile and devoid of the tangible aspects of what were in business to create!

You can’t tell by going into the offices of most companies what business they are actually in! Consider how challenging that inherently makes it for new people in the organization to understand and contribute creatively.

Creativity matters and the lack of it can kill a company. Read the whole interview.

Adegga no Público

Logo do Público

Assuka - Restaurante e Take Away Japonês

Adegga launched!

I’m very pleased to announce that Adegga is officially launched. Here’s the official announcement.

Adegga Homepage

For the moment, Adegga accounts will be available by invitation only (more at the FAQ). Nevertheless, everyone who registers (via an invite) will get a couple of new invites to send.

A special thanks André Cid and Emídio Santos for all the effort that was done creating Adegga. It was hard work mostly during rest or sleep hours. Thank you.

Thanks also to Bruno Pedro who has been advisoring Adegga technicaly and to all the other non-executive (had to use a corporate word somewhere) team members

As I’ve written on Adegga’s blog:
Adegga is only starting. We have several features that we’re finishing and will be launching in the coming weeks. There’s so much coming up. So many interesting things we wished we had them all to launch! We hope you enjoy using Adegga as much as we enjoyed building it.

Time Out Lisboa - Número 2

Time Out Lisboa - Número 2

A Time Out Lisboa é publicada pela Capital da Escrita (se têm site, o Google não sabe disso) sob licença do Grupo Time Out.

What is Adegga?

We have shown some screenshots but we haven’t said much about what is project all about. Here’s a short explanation of Adegga.

Adegga logo

What is Adegga?
Adegga is an online service that helps you discover and choose wine by sharing your opinions with people you trust.

Adegga lets you build a personalized Watchlist so that you can keep track of what people on your list are choosing and tasting. You can add friends, wine bloggers, producer and just about anyone else. You can also add wine producers and wine shops to your personalized Watchlist so that you keep track of when a producer releases a new wine or a wine shop makes a promotion.

Adegga also helps you organize your wines. You can keep track of wines you taste, make a wishlist or organize your home cellar.

So what can you do with Adegga?
Here’s a short list of situations where you can use Adegga.

  • See which wines you have in your cellar.
  • Read what people you trust think about a specific wine you want to try.
  • Lookup up prices for a wine you’re thinking of buying.
  • See which wines you’ve tasted to check if you have tried a wine before.
  • Check your Wishlist before your next visit to the wine shop.
  • Check if someone you trust has a specific bottle of wine.
  • Review that amazing wine shop you’ve just bought wine from.
  • See what promotions your favorite wine shop is running this week.
  • Read what wine bloggers are saying about a wine (soon).

There’s more that you can do on Adegga and there’s more that we want you to be able to do.

Note: I’ll be cross-posting some posts with the Adegga Blog as they both relate to me and Adegga at the same time.

Adegga Launching Soon!

I’m happy to announce that we’re approaching the launch of Adegga.

The past couple of months we’ve been receiving great feedback from our lovely beta-testers (thank you!). We’ve turned lots of suggestions into features and it’s now time to start talking about them.

We have written about the Wine List Overview feature and we’ll be showing other features on the Adegga blog. For a start, here’s a screenshot of the homepage when you’re logged in.

We’ll be sending an email soon to the 500 people who have asked to be notified of our launch. If you haven’t subscribed and would like to do, please enter your email address on the Adegga signup form.
