Festival de Chocolate

O festival de Óbidos está para o chocolate como o festival do Marisco está para Olhão: (como disse um amigo) vai-se, bebe-se uns copos, come-se e volta-se. É o que o povo gosta.

Para um festival que está a ser organizado pela quinta vez esperava muito mais do que um conjunto de lojas para comprar chocolate, algumas esculturas, um concurso e uma passagem de modelos (?!).

Chocolate é muito mais do que ali é mostrado. Não vi nada sobre a história do chocolate, como é feito, onde é produzido. Era interessante, por exemplo, explicar a diferença entre o chocolate mass-market (a Nestlé é um patrocinador) e o de alta qualidade ou que o bom chocolate tem pelo menos 70% de cacao.

Vi muita gente a vender ginjinha, muita gente a vender bocados de chocolate mas não vi ninguém vender vinho do porto e chocolate (fazem um óptimo par) ou café e chocolate. Pouca variedade (ou imaginação).

Comi um crepe mas de açúcar e não de chocolate (como queria). Nutella não é chocolate.

Mas Óbidos vale a sempre a pena e o porto de Peniche foi um bom passeio. Todas as fotos aqui.

Festival Internacional de Chocolate Óbidos

Working alone and taking vacations

I’m back from France. It was wonderful to be away from work for a whole week. However I was reminded of how complex it is to take a vacation when you working alone or in a small team.

I took all precautions and prepared things with the guys at Adegga but I’m also working on a new project and doing consulting work for two other clients. They were all informed of my short vacation a few weeks before which worked great.

Nevertheless, I came back and there’s a ton of stuff to do. There’s not really anyone here to replace me while I’m away so I things just got pushed forward a week in time. Result? I’m still catching up on email and I’ll have to work a couple of hours on the weekend to catch up on what needs to be done.

France for a few days

I’ll be spending the next couple of days in France. I’ll stop in Paris so I’m planning to visit a wine shop that was recently reviewed in Adegga - La Derniere Goutte. I also found the lovely A design guide to Paris (see flickr photo set) which has lots of great places to visit on short stay. Then I’ll head to Angers and stay there with short visits to Tours and Nantes. À bientôt!
