Wall-e
Wall-e reminds me of Johnny 5 from the great science fiction movie Short Circuit that really impressed me when I was a small kid. More Wall-e mini movies here.
LIFT Asia 08
LIFT Asian 08 will happen in Korea on September 4, 5 and 6. I wish I could go. Watching a event like this in a completely different culture would be an amazing experience.
Here’s a brief look into the program:

Confirmed speakers: Robert Scoble, Takeshi Natsuno (inventor of the imode for NTT Docomo), Eric Rodenbeck (Stamen Design), Wonsun Park (Hope Institute Korea), Adam Greenfield, Jeff Huang, Yang Soo-In, Bruno Bonnell, Frederic Kaplan, Tomoaki Katsuga, Jan Chipchase (Nokia), Christian Lindholm, David Birch (consultant), and the one and only Dan Dubno (Green gadgets).
A look at the practical information page gives a glimpse of what visiting Korea must be.
Must. Go. Soon.
Going Solo in Leeds
If you didn’t have a chance to go to Going Solo in Lausanne, Stephanie is organizing a second edition in Leeds, UK on September, 12th. Here’s a few videos from the first edition where you can see how it went.

Startup challenges by Twitter
Techcrunch has interviewed Twitter cofounder Evan Williams after the acquisition of Twitter search engine Summize (now using search.twitter.com as a domain).
Besides the acquisition there’s lots of other interesting points of view on Twitter startup challenges including scalability, data privacy and business model. Here’s the video (20 min):

With love.

Past, present and future of Plazes
It’s great news to hear that Plazes was acquired by Nokia a few weeks ago. I heard about Plazes 4 years 3 years ago during a presentation at reboot and it feels good to see an entrepreneur start and then succeed.

During the last 4 years many questions were raised as to what was Plazes all about, how did it make money or why would people use it but Felix Petersen (one the founders) has continued to move Plazes forward and to believe in his vision for the project.
A lot has changed in terms of development since it was conceived (isn’t it always like that?) but this is project that shows that sometimes, if you really believe in your vision for what you’re doing, then it’s good to keep improving your project until its right where it should be, solving users problems and creating value.
This video (found via Peter) is an interview with Felix Peterson where he talks about the deal and the past, present and future of Plazes. It’s great to hear directly from one of the founders what is this all about.
Congratulations Felix!
What the f**k is social media?
Great presentation on what the f**k is social media.
Recipe: Lassi Mango
In a hot summer Sunday nothing like a cold Lassi Mango to refresh. Lassi Mango is an Indian drink very similar to a mango milkshake. Here’s he recipe I found on the food network:
- 255 milliliters plain yogurt (organic would be perfect)
- 130 milliliters milk
- 200 grams fresh mango, stoned and sliced
- 4 teaspoons sugar, to taste, or feel free to try salt and cardamom seeds
Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend for 2 minutes, then pour into individual glasses, and serve. The lassi can be kept refrigerated for up to 24 hours. It’s that simple.
