Wine in London, Wine in London, Wine in London!
In two weeks I’ll be at the London for Wine Fair where I’ll be able to taste hundreds of wine, talk about Adegga and meet lots of new people. All this in the company of my good friends Ryan and Gabriella from Catavino. Can it get any better?*
The London Wine Fair is one of the biggest wine fairs in the world and is a great opportunity to meet other people in the industry, a couple of wine producers and the occasional wine blogger.

I’ll actually be doing two short talks. One about the AVIN (our ISBN for wine) and the why it’s so important to organize wine data and one about social tasting note sites (like Adegga).
Time permitting of courrrrrrse I’ll be doing a lot of walking, bookshop wondering, wine shopping and wagamama procrastinating! Many things to see despite the heavy agenda.
I’ll definitely be coming back to the lovely Philglas & Swiggot wine shop and the inevitable organic food heaven Borough Market

VinumCallipole09: Wine tasting in Alentejo
Next Saturday there’s another great opportunity to taste great Portuguese wines in the beautiful wine region of Alentejo

Organized by João Pedro, the event will happen in the Convento dos Capuchos in Vila Viçosa and starts at 15h and lasts until 20h.
It’s one of the cosiest wine events in Portugal and a really good opportunity to taste good wine, talk to wine producers and meet fellow wine drinkers.

Take Off 2009

É já no próximo Sábado que acontece a edição de 2009 do Take Off. O evento é uma dos poucos encontros informais de empreendedores (o outro é o Barcamp) onde é possível partilhar de ideias, contactos e experiências.
O programa deste ano:
- (10:00) Apresentação
- (10:15) Workshop BusinessPlan - Jorge Figueira
- (11:15) Carlota Ferreira (WIN Productions)
- (12:00) Carlos Andrade (Maze)
- (14:15) Leo Xavier (Quodis)
Art used to raise flood awareness

I love this kind of art installations. A giant inflatable mouse floats on the Rhone river in Lyon, France as part of an artistic happening by architect Jacques Rival, aimed at informing people on the risks of floods.
Small is the new big
Small companies with low overhead, reliable owners, a small number of committed employees, personal client relationships, and sustainable business models that drive a reasonable profit are the great opportunity of our time. Small is the new big. Sustainable is the new growth. Trust is the new competitive advantage.
I agree with much of is said by Peter Bergman on this great article on why small companies have an edge on this economy.
Chiado After Work
I’m all for a nice get together for a beer or a glass of wine after work (think Twinelis) and with weather being so nice much of the year in Lisbon it is hard for me to understand why we don’t do it more often.
Chiado, one of the most interesting neighbourhoods in Lisbon wants to change that and has launched the Chiado After Work program to get people to get out and enjoy the end of the day more often.
Until May 6th the 18 shops, bars and pubs in the program will be promoting wine tastings, traditional food tastings and live music between 6pm and 9pm everyday.
The 18 places include the Quiosque do Refresco, the Spot at the São Luiz Theather, the Bar at Bairro Alto Hotel, the Chá do Carmo, the Colcci Café, the Kaffeehaus, the Tavares and a couple others.

With so many good restaurants nearby (for example Nood and New Wok) there’s no excuse for not staying longer and enjoy te night.
Also interesting in this program is that all corks will be recycled through the Green Cork program.

Twinelis = wine + food + nice people
Ryan’s is in Lisbon and we’re organizing the third edition of Twinelis.
WTF is Twinelis? basically it’s an informal event where a bunch of nice people get together to enjoy really good wine and have a nice conversation. Wine snobs are not allowed.
Join us today at DeliDelux at 7pm! Do follow the twinelis hashtag for the latest updates!

European Wine Blogger Conference 2009 is in Lisbon!
Last year, the European Wine Bloggers Conference happened in Rioja and I was there to attend the first international event for Wine Bloggers. This year I’m proud to say that it will happen in Lisbon, Portugal and Adegga will be sponsoring the event.
The idea behind the conference is to bring together bloggers of all backgrounds including: winemakers, wine writers, marketers, retailers and distributors from around the world. The theme for this year couldn’t be more appropriate: The Future of the Social Wine Brand.
The conference will take place between the 30th of October to the 1st of November 2009 and around these days I’ve been running around from place to place in an effort to help Ryan & Gabriella and Robert setup the second edition of the European Wine Bloggers Conference (EWBC) in Lisbon.
